A selection of favorite & past works

I am a pretty prolific creator, and as a teaching artist I have literally created hundreds of works for various learning and educational purposes. These are some projects and pieces that I have created during various long-term projects, for books I have written, and for arts-related jobs I have held over the years as a professional, working artist. I just can’t stop making work.

The #100DayProject 2023

Each object in this series was created over one 24-hour period, with one object made for each day between February 22 and June 9, 2023.
Yes, I really fabricated 100 objects in 100 days, and yes, it was exhausting but incredibly fun after teaching all day in elementary school! These were my very own self-imposed rules, because without rules, you can’t be free to break rules:

  1. To make each work, I had to use materials I already had on hand in the house or studio and without purchasing anything new for the duration of the project.

  2. Each final object must fit in a 2 x 2-inch format.

  3. Final photos were to be shot without enhancement or filters on plain white bond paper, by cellphone – and they had to be posted by midnight each day.

A few favorite works created as step-by-step projects during my tenure as Managing and later Senior Editor of Lapidary Journal Jewelry Artist magazine, which – like a lot of really good print media - folded a few years ago, after nearly 68 continuous years in publication.

one of the best jewelry photographers out there.

My second book was published in 2018 and features content created for jewelry makers making the transition to metalwork. It’s format features how-to-learn exercises using the 12 basic jewelry bench hand tools and then gives instructions for a series of projects focused on using your newly-found skills to make wearable works of one-of-a-kind jewelry.
